You want your Ski? Go get it!

First off I am giving Avenged Sevenfold a try. They are a heavy/core/rock metal band that I have listened to in the past but very little. Reason why was that the few songs I listened to half of them sounded a little to much like the EMO garbage that people like Fall out boy puts out.

These guys are definitely heavier but have great talent and keep a really high paced and energetic sound. If they stick with their metal roots all should be good. Funny thing is that one of the lead singers many mentors was Axel from GnR so a few of the slower style songs have a little bit of those kinds of vocals but no one can pull off what Axel did so well and naturally.

Something that we have heard of for the past several years was the question of how long will it take for the population to grow so large that the internet will not be able to take the amount of information that it contains. Problem is all those that have the best insight really have no clue as to when or if but they are sure that (for example) the internet would not be able to hold two or more YouTubes in the near future.

So let’s say it happens and it can not take any more, some of the people and companies adding sites and info to the net are saying that the government should begin assisting the problem with funding. NO no, no! This would be a horrible idea. My first thought is censorship.

But the bigger picture is the expected cost involved. The internet is not a necessity by any means no one actually needs the internet it is a luxury -albeit a useful one but none the less it is a luxury. The problem being is that the government should be spending millions of dollars on greater NECESSITIES i.e. health care, education and other social programs. These are priorities that we can not live without, but we can live without the internet.

Anyone who has watched even one Warren Miller film knows what the title of this blog is refering too. Warren miller sold Warren miller entertainment to his son Kurt Miller (for I am sure a decent deal) and then Kurt turned around and sold the company to Time Inc. Not really a great idea but with Warren still having some creative say and maintaining his role as narrator the films still had a Warren feel.

But over the years the ever dedicated fan base slowly grew tired of the growing advertisements that seem to take precedent leaving the film content to suffer. Commercialism has truly ruined these films, hence why I do not go to view them at the NAC anymore.

One positive change was including today’s style of ‘Jib’ skiing. I love the way the sport has changed. Skiing needed a change and with the introduction of substantially shorter skis, rails, kickers and a new attitude skiing can be compared to its ever popular little brother, snowboarding –so people like me who hate snowboarding can continue to ski.

Classic skiing was tired and needed to be put to rest. There is a great feeling with shorter parabolic skis while hitting bigger jumps and rails; I have left my old long planks behind and welcomed the change. This more aggressive form of skiing has added elements of street skateboarding, free-style ski kickers and maneuvers, attitude and a shot of speed-metal to round out the classic form of skiing. Or the new parabolic skis can provide a new comer or classic style skier better comfort, faster and more confident turning and mobility.

So to the generation that is bitching about this style of skiing just remember that change is good. The only thing that really bugs me is the change in narration in miller's films. There was a certain indescribable feeling ski fan’s got when we heard Miller’s voice during those films and now that he is ill and over 80 he just can’t do it any more -we miss you Warren. So I guess some change does suck.
