The countdown is on as there are only 3 weeks and a few days to go for the 08 Tour De France. There are many great riders to watch this year and at the top of the list was last years second place finisher 31 year old Cadel Evans. The Aussie seems to be the front runner that if all goes well could clinch a victory for himself, team and country.But it will not be easy as the peleton, as always, will be filled with hungry and powerful riders like Alejandro Valverde 6th place in 2007, 2007 King of the Mountains winner Mauricio Soler. Carlos Sastre who took 4th last year and several championship events. My favourite sprinter and 2007 points winner (green jersey) is barred from the 2008 race due to cocaine use in the off season -sorry tray he will not be there to look at.
Regardless the tour should be as exciting as ever with long rides through the French countryside. Power full sprints and demoralizing hills. And time trials that only the strongest, most determined and daring will set an unattainable pace. These men train a levels that are not comprehensible to most of us. They are truly elite athletes and it is amazing to see them preform in the top race of their sport.
Of course I can not speak about the Tour without speaking of Lance. Reason being is that when needing inspiration to get me pumped for a difficult training session I sometimes watch clips like these. I mean come on the man survived cancer then goes on to not only recover and race he becomes probably the greatest Tour de France racer of all time. Moments like "the look" in 2001 to Jan Ulrich. Years later passing Jan in a solo time trial. And of course setting blistering speeds and coming back from crash after crash to lead the sprint and pull away for the victory.
So today’s workout looked like this;
5 rounds of
Kipping pull-ups x 10,
Dips x 10
Two handed DB(45lbs) swing x 10
Finished with 1 x 1000m Sprint Row -figured out why the time cleared the rower I chose two days in a row has a faulty clock. Tomorrow I will chose a better one.
Then
Olympic bar curl (10-8-8) SS w/ DB press (10-8-8)
Reverse cable tri extension (12-8-8) SS DB curl (10-8-8)
Olympic bar curl (10-8-8) SS w/ DB press (10-8-8)
Reverse cable tri extension (12-8-8) SS DB curl (10-8-8)
To cap the day off I just cam back from a 7k run and am now going to eat like mad.
