Part Deux; VPism

Wouldn’t it be nice for the US to not have a criminal, sleazy, prick Vice President?

When it comes to seeking a competent person to step up and back the leader of the ‘free world’ you have to do your homework, or at least have someone you trust do it for you. You wouldn’t want to end up with a vice president that has varying values then the president or a complete dunderhead that would spend his/her time looking for ways to use federal funding as their personal piggy bank.

Those at the top of the list for Democrats are extremely impressive individuals. The three that stand out for me are Virginia governor Tim Kaine, Arizona governor Janet Napolitano, and Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius.

All have very extremely impressive resumes that contain backgrounds steeped in political experience. I truly believe the most impressive are Janet Napolitano and Kathleen Sebelius. Both law grades and both have made their way through the political minefield to become proactive governors of their respective states’.

They implement and sign bills that actually make a difference. The bills they sign reflect positive and major change in social programs. Their top concerns that they have taken action in are those that concern everyone the most; environment, education, affordable health care and a long-term economic system that takes every individual into account. I have perused their individual sites and if you are a political geek like me or in the US facing this up coming election I encourage you to check them out.

Finally we come to the longest of all long shots that would make many voters extremely happy is a candidate that although not impossible that he would join the race or be asked to it is highly improbable. Of course I speak of AL Gore

James Carville stated this week that Barack Obama should chose AL Gore as his right hand man. Could you imagine that dynamic duo? I could not even think of a better team to introduce sustainable concepts concerning a strong economy. Adding stability and creating affordable health care. An energy plan that would ultimately save individuals money as well as to sustain a long term that would include alternatives that would be affordable to all.

Carville stated that Gore has not said that he was never going to return to politics just that he was not going to run for president. He also argued that “Gore would be the right candidate for combating the biggest problem facing the nation: oil consumption.” But then again these are hard things to accomplish but I honestly think if there are two men more dedicated, passionate and intelligent to make these things happen it would be Obama/Gore.

But it is a long, long shot b/c in reality this will not happen. Luckily he has some very experienced and competent people to choose from. I would get into the republican side of things but to be honest I would rather not waste my time on them. They all hold similar values toward maintaining military involvement in the Middle East while also looking at extending there reach into other nations i.e. Iraq and Asian nations. Most of the Reps don’t give a second thought to environment or initiating a health care plan that considers single parents or the increasing amount of individuals and families that can not afford insurance or medical bills. Nope they are really not the people to be leading a ‘free nation’ what a crock of shit that is.
