Yesterday was Super Tuesday in that it is considered the second most important day for the bid of the head seat in the oval office allowing the 44th person to control the world for at least the next 4 years. Essentially Super Tuesday has been the day where primaries and caucuses are held in the greatest amount of states before the actual election. This year it was held in 24 key states. Yup Super Tuesday held a great deal of anticipation as political geeks argued about who was a mainstream conservative or what candidate was better for the working class -guess with my political infatuation I’m lumped in with the geeks some where. Regardless, all the journalists were a buzz with predictions and excitement for new projections and outcomes. But although these same journalist are acting as if yesterday was a huge deal -just to get you to read their article- nothing really happened. Super Tuesday normally predicts who will be the leader of the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.
Yesterday the most interesting outcome was that Mitt Romney actually and quite literally believes in his mind that he will win and become the leader of the Republican Party. Wow they say you have to be thick skinned to be in politics but I believe they will have to add that your skull better be thick as well.
Romney, I guess, missed what the millions of voters and viewers saw which was; McCain nailing down the lead. This was expected going in and has remained the norm. Could you imagine McCain has political experience for the job but extreme conservatism and an unhealthy does of senility? He wouldn’t be much better then the child president. Also the democratic race has not changed as Barack and Hilary are both neck and neck. The only slight change there was the fact that Barack seems to be doing better as the year goes on.
Being a Canadian and having and interest in politics obviously I am more interested in U.S. politics. But it also means something to all of us Canadians. First off U.S. politics can have great swings in legislation that affect millions of people on US soil, but more importantly, foreign soil as well. Presidents’ have the powers to overturn environmental legislation as they deem fit.
For example Bush senior removed many sustainable plans and conservation areas from state parks like Yosemite. Clinton entered office and reinstated those sustainable concepts which, if he would have not lied in his inquiry and had just been forth coming about his infidelities he would still have been in and then those policies would have remained and led to a positive future. But this didn’t happen as Bush Jr. came in and made sure to remove those positive policies as his daddy did, and thus he and his elite U.S. cronies could bathe in oil and dry off with money as pigs do in shit.
Major issues that could affect us: Canada has largest supply of fresh water in the world, and many US states could use a top up as there already a couple states receive our water and once the tap is on it can never be turned off unfortunately. Canadian is second only to Saudi Arabia in oil reserves. 179 billion barrels of black gold lying in areas like out tar sands are an extremely attractive to the always wasteful SUVs that are driven by a large percentage of the US.
Finally the sovereignty of the Northern passage is a huge concern to Canada. Our country has the biggest shoreline on it and you would think that we should have sovereignty hands down. But in reality the US believes they should have sole power -no surprise there as they believe they own everything- and then would proceed to overuse the passage to ship items like oil when ever they felt like it. Could you imagine the waste of energy and the increased number of oil spills at the hands of drunken ship captains who drive large ships up onto glaciers???
So when you stop and think of it we are extremely affected by who is in charge to the South.

In the "Better Late than Never" pile, Mitt's quit as of this afternoon.
So it's a free pass for McCain to take advantage of all the undecided's once the great big wedge between Hilary and Obama supporters comes to it's conclusion.
The truly scary thing is that some are saying that the only way the Dems have a shot after this even-split Tuesday is to have the winner secure the loser as their VP.
Sigh.
Could you honestly imagine the two of them in the House with complete control? A few months after Hilary through her hat in and saw the neck and neck heat I thought that they would have a great chance if they had the other as their VP, but I never thought it would actually come to happen. Scary but again could be worse.
