Part Une; The real Political Race

The old boys club, consisting of rich white men, has been running things for far too long. They control the markets, the major corporations but worse of all they control nations such as the US. But this could all change as Obama could be the next president making him the first African American president.

McCain is falling behind in popularity to that of Obama. The match up stands at, Obama leading McCain among African Americans (83-7 percent), Hispanics (62-28), women (52-33), Catholics (47-40), independents (41-36) and surprisingly blue-collar workers (47-42). Obama is also ahead among those who said they voted for Clinton in the Democratic primaries (61-19).

Does this mean victory is coming to Barack making him the first ever black president? It would look like it from the numbers above but nothing is ever a sure thing until you get all the votes counted. Oh wait let me rephrase that, nothing is a sure thing until the votes are recounted in the state that your brother is governor and you win when it was clear that the other guy won -sorry Gore.

At this point Barack is leading in the minority sector or as many rich white people would say, the sector of people that do not matter unless I need something done for me. Obama has a lead over McCain with respect to all women which is one of the more crucial groups to win. But not all women as Obama is behind McCain in the white suburban women group (Protected wealthy women).

With white men -makes me sick to be one sometimes well no I guess not as I am not a greedy prick lacking in essential morals. Barack is 20 points behind in this demographic and that is not good at all.

What terrifies is this ideology; I would rather live with the devil I know then the one I don’t. White men have the power to pressure and influence the vote to obtain more of the same with McCain and will try to convince voters that they can be assured that they will at least be safe and have a strong nation that spreads democracy with a white man in office.

It is then as simple as separating the voters and those who sway votes. They break down as follows; first the extremely powerful i.e. elitists, lobbyist and the so on. The second being the people waiting to make a decision based on late popularity poles closing into November. And finally those affected by the decisions made and broad casted by groups one and two.

Sorry but I feel the ballot box is half empty as the track record proves that the white machine will win again. White men and suburban women voted and kept in Bush for so long it will happen again. Funny these are the people that say "we are patriots we want to free foreign nations from tyranny and help our fellow nations and spread democracy among all the lands…" and in the same breath "A black president are you mentally ill? No way would I let a funny named terrorist looking guy be commander and chief!" But what if he is good for your nation as a whole? Oh right you want to remain wealthy and at the top not a more even an fair economy, got it.

But what makes a terrorist a terrorist? Is it the colour of their skin? Or is it based on their intent and actions? Most intelligent people define terrorist as; "An agent of a sub-national group who uses premeditated, politically motivated violence against non-combatant targets." Many North Americans -mainly white of course- believe a terrorist is merely someone of a different ethnic background and/race and from ‘over there’ even if they can’t point to ‘over there’ on a map, hell they probably couldn’t point out the US.

Think I am joking? Read this; Fox Anchor Calls Obama Fist Pound A "Terrorist Fist Jab". There are many stories like this.

For the moment my personal forecast on this election will be kept to myself other then a few possibilities. I will say that although I wanted Clinton in at the beginning Obama changed my mind after I watched all the debates and read both their platforms. I just don't see him making it past the gauntlet of white power, money and ignorance -before you yell at me I am obviously not talking about every white person.
Finally whoever gets in will have to deal with the cluster fuck that Bush created and as they step into the oval office will require chest high fishing waders just to slip through the putrid stench of bullshit.
Pat Deux coming soon! -much more interesting then this ramble...

Just some ramblings....

For the first time the US is close to a large political swing, at a time when the US and world desperately need it. However, my faith or lack thereof in the US voting system makes me sad and discouraged about the probable outcome of this election. Why? Well not because of who will be voted in, but perhaps due to what the major influential factor might be.

Most of us know that life is not white or black but there are many shades of gray. Some of the most difficult complex situations and life are purely gray. So when a major political decision regarding who is going to be the next president of the United States of America comes down to a black or white decision it is deeply concerning.

I know there is more to voting than this issue and that hopefully voters are more educated on the policies and are looking beyond white vs. black. However, it appears that so much emphasis has unfortunately been placed on gender and ethnicity that at some point it must have an influential factor on voting trends around the country.

Overall I hope that voters out there can look beyond any prejudices (white or black) and vote for whom they think would better the country as a whole. Not the one who will make there pockets deeper, houses bigger, the oceans warmer and the oil wells drier. But rather the one that will help them get employed, educated and healthier.

James Truslow Adams coined the term "The American Dream". I am sure that to 12.3% of American's living in poverty (yes that is over 36 million Americans) the so called “American Dream” is nothing more than that – a dream. If politicians and the country wish to bring the American Dream to all Americans, and bridge the ever widening gap between poor and rich and black and white then they along with the media need to stop running their political campaigns based on gender and ethnicity.
